Our #popcultureclassic for this episode, is the 1975 thriller, and Steven Spielberg movie, Jaws. The movie stars Robert Shaw and Richard Dreyfuss. We discuss the movie, and there is one person who, you might guess, thinks it doesn’t hold up. But, we talk about the plot, and what everyone thought when it came out, as well as the “awesome” sequels. Plus, we discuss what other copycat ocean movies were made, and how plausible the plot really is.

TOTLB S29 Michael Witwer

Our next installment of special interview episodes, comes from the awesome mind of author, Michael Witwer! Michael is the author of Empire of Imagination: Gary Gygax and the Birth of Dungeons & Dragons, and the co-author of the book we are talking about today, D&D Art & Arcana! If you listen to the show, you know that Gabe is a BIG Dungeons and Dragons fan, and even holds a weekly game!! Because of this, when we heard about the Art & Arcana book, we knew we had to get Michael on the show to talk about this awesome book!!

Michael tells us about his love for Dungeons & Dragons, as well as how he came to be a fan of the game! D&D Art & Arcana is “An illustrated guide to the history and evolution of the beloved role-playing game told through the paintings, sketches, illustrations, and visual ephemera behind its creation, growth, and continued popularity.” Can you imagine having to find the 14 and 15 year olds who first created these awesome illustrations that D&D fans have come to know!? It’s a very cool journey, that they didn’t even know they were a part of, until this book came along!

Click on the link above to order the book, but you can also order this special edition!!!

TOTLB 108 Udder Maddness

And we’re BACK to Hall of Justice Comics & Collectibles!! The whole gang, almost, is here, and it’s always a little crazy when we’re all together! At this point in time, only a few people had seen Captain Marvel, but we do speak about all the “controversy that surrounded the movie. Plus, Jon tells us about Sharkey the bounty hunter, and some of the other books that are coming out. We also talk about Idris Elba taking over for Will Smith on Suicide Squad, and Brightburn!

Our #popcultureclassic for this episode, is the 1997 crime film, L.A. Confidential. The movie stars Kevin Spacey, Kim Basinger, Guy Pearce, and Russell Crowe. Our Patreon supporter, Jason, has been on a real Guy Pearce kick, and that is why this movie was chosen. We discuss the movie, but the conversation really turns into the state of the movie industry, including if there really are anymore bankable actors, with a namesake. Or, if the likes of Al Pacino, and Robert De Niro are actors of the past.

Jonthan also joins the show, and speak about what was coming out of Comics Pro, a comic book retailers event that they had just attended!! Find out what was spoken about, and what books might come out of it!!

PLUS, our much anticipated #popcultureclassic for this episode, is the 1997 movie, Event Horizon!! We recently spoke to Jack Noseworthy about his role in this movie, and you can find that interview HERE. jump street, you can tell that all of the hosts are big fans of this movie, and we pretty much regard this as one of our favorite horror movies of all time. TOTLB S28 Jack Noseworthy

In our next regular episode, you will hear us discuss the 1997 space horror film, Event Horizon! This is actually a movie that we all agree on, for a change. It happens to be one of our favorite horror movies for it’s time!!

But, for this special interview episode, we get to speak with Ensign Justin, portrayed by the talented actor, Jack Noseworthy!! You might remember Justin, as the character who is briefly pulled into the portal of the Event Horizon, and comes out a VERY different person!

Jack talks about the movie, coming into his third paramount movie, and his process as an actor. This is a very unique perspective into the process, which we don’t normally hear about. BUT, not only is Jack killing it in movies & TV, but he is also doing great work on the Broadway stage AND he is doing amazing charitable work through the Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS organization!!

“Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS is the major supporter of essential social service programs at The Actors Fund, including the HIV/AIDS Initiative, the Phyllis Newman Women’s Health Initiative and The Friedman Health Center for the Performing Arts. We also award annual grants to more than 450 AIDS and family service organizations nationwide.”
