25th Anniversary of Hellboy

Are you ready to celebrate with Hellboy!? I know that Jonthan is!! March 23rd marks the 25th anniversary of Mike Mignola’s Hellboy. To celebrate the occasion, Dark Horse has deemed the day “Hellboy Day.” “Seed of Destruction” was introduced in 1994, and fans clamored to the right hand of doom, and the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense! In it’s honor, Dark Horse will be publishing a 25th anniversary, promotional edition of Hellboy: Seed of Destruction issue 1, with a new cover by Mignola and Dave Stewart!

“When I created Hellboy way back when I never imagined he would be around long enough to celebrate a 25th anniversary,” said Mike Mignola. “I’m grateful to the writers, artists, colorists and letterers who’ve joined me in telling Hellboy stories for all these years. And, of course, so grateful to the fans. This thing could not exist without their support and it’s a pleasure every time I get to go out to meet them.”

I’m guessing that your favorite local comic book shop will be putting on a special event, in recognition of such an anniversary. Retailers will be giving away tattoo sheets, right hand of doom bookmarks, and much deals will be had that day! “Hellboy fans: please make sure to tell your retailer you want your local store to participate in this awesome celebration today,” said Matt Parkinson, Dark Horse Vice President of Marketing. “And retailers: look for the December Previews for February on Sale (Issue #363) for details on backlist sales and contest deals, as well as ordering information on the promotional material being created for the event.”

Our 51st episode comes all the way from beautiful Parker Colorado, at THE Hall of Justice Comics & Collectibles.
With this 51st episode, brings our countdown to tattoo’s! At 100 episodes, we will ALL be getting tattoo’s to commeorate what should be, a 5 year podcast at the time!! No interviews for this show, so, it’s back to our roots! Jon celebrate his 1 year anniversary of owning his comic book store the day before we recorded. So he goes in a little bit, on how that feels, and what it’s like to own your own small business! Gabe and Juan saw Doctor Strange, and ruined it for Jon, who may or may not EVER go see it in the theater. We also talk about Gabe’s LOVE for Emma Rios, and there is MUCHO laughs! We sound like teenage girls during this entire episode!!
For our #PopCultureClassics segment, we talk about The Rocky Horror Picture Show! This is a movie that we get into a little deeper, as Gabe and Jon really enjoy the movie, but Juan does not. We all discuss why, and it seems to get a little deep, which is the perfect conversation for this segment!! This also leads us to a discussion of the new version of this movie as well. Gabe is the only one of the three of us, who has seen in, but it seems to follow the original very closely! We obviously read the feedback from our listeners, which are a mixed back of like/dislike. It’s quite a polarizing movie! Great conversation for this movie, and we were all glad to have watched it again!
Remember, you can ALWAYS let us know what you think! We can only think of so many things to talk about every other week, and would LOVE to get some feedback and ideas from all of you out there who are listening!! You can send mp3s and email to our email address. Also, join the conversations on our Facebook Page and Twitter Page. Also, if you have good feedback, please leave it for us on iTunes and Stitcher!! That’s one way to help us climb the ranks into podcast glory!! You can ALSO leave us voicemail!!! Call 970-573-6148 and leave us a hilarious message!!!
