TOTLB 095 Colorado Springs Comic Con 2018

And one more Colorado Springs Comic Con has come and gone! After the last two comic cons earlier in the year, Colorado Springs was a refreshing change of pace!! Much more relaxed, AND we did mostly coverage of panels, which is new to us! BUT, first things first, we have an interview to start off the show!

We spoke with Russell Nohelty from the upcoming anthology, Cthulhu Is Hard To Spell! You KNOW that we (especially Gabe) are HUGE fans of books like this, and we think you all will get a kick out of it! If you love Lovecraft THIS is the anthology to support on Kickstarter! This book is not a typical Lovecraft style story, and revolves much more around these beautiful/horrendous creatures! With seven days left in the kickstarter, don’t miss out on your chance to support this team, we will be!

The main bulk of this show is our rundown of the panels that we did while we were in attendance! After the main show, listen to our floor interviews with some of our favorite stalwarts at Colorado Springs Comic Con; Frankie Serna, Jessica Barnes, AC Canales, with new to the show Babs Webb, and to end the episode, we have an awesome interview with Ron Marz!!

Remember, you can ALWAYS let us know what you think! We can only think of so many things to talk about every other week, and would LOVE to get some feedback and ideas from all of you out there who are listening!! You can send mp3s and email to our email address. Also, join the conversations on our Facebook Page and Twitter Page. If you have good feedback, please leave it for us on iTunes and Stitcher!! That’s one way to help us climb the ranks into podcast glory!! You can ALSO leave us voicemail!!! Call the Michael Kuyrk memorial 970-573-6148 and leave us a hilarious message!!! PLUS FOR AS LITTLE AS $1/MONTH you can support us on Patreon!! A lot of cool extras on there for those who support!!

TOTLB S20 The O’Halloran Experience

That first picture, was the end of what might go down in history, as the best (or one of the best) episodes that Thinking Outside the Longbox has done! We started off the day at Colorado Springs Comic Con, not being invited (or forgotten if you ask Frankie) to a low key house party. Once we were invited (after a pity invite), our friend Jack “Smitty” Smith told us that he would be bringing along famed Clerks star Brian O’Halloran! Of course, we’re big fans:

Upon arrival, Smitty introduced us, and Brian agreed to be on the show. We thought we’d ask him a few questions, talk about a few things, and let him move on with his night. Then, this happened:

I don’t know if you can tell or not, but that is Brian taking his first shot of the night with our crew. One shot would turn into three bottles of various whiskeys!! All of which, would culminate in the best audio, in one hour, that we may have ever had!! Brian was such a genuinely nice guy, and we can’t thank him enough to have spent some time with us. If you haven’t seen his work (how are you reading this if you haven’t) don’t be a fool, go watch the fucking movies!

TOTLB 066 Denver Comic Con Year Three

totlb-916-300
Hello everyone!! The 66th episode, comes to you from out 3rd year at Denver Comic Con!!
This is our FIRST year going to Denver Comic Con as OFFICIAL members of the Press. Our interview episode came before this one, and you can use this as reference for that episode. This is our coverage at Frankie Serna’s kick off party, and our coverage from our booth, on the floor of the Comic Con.
At the kickoff party, we speak to two different people! First, we talk to Collect 2 Display! They make toploading frames for your walls! The frames that were on display, were housing all of Frankie’s art, and were absolutely gorgeous! They make all of the frames by hand, and make them to accentuate your art! Do NOT miss the boat on these frames before the demand goes up!
We also talk to Stickslate! They make some of the coolest backpacks that you will wear! What sets these backpacks apart, is that you can switch out (with velcro) the front picture of the backpack. They get art from different artists, and make stickers out of their art. That way, you can switch out the “skins” if you feel like wearing a different character every day! Juan personally owns one himself! They’re gorgeous, and are actually very sturdy bags!!
During the show, we talk to some of the people who are wandering around the halls, but since we weren’t at the booth very often, you hear us mostly talk with the gang of the Not So Sufferin’ Sapphos podcast! Dayna, Derek, and their intern stop by throughout the weekend. They’re amazing, and you should definitely check out their show as well.
Also, if you have good feedback, please leave it for us on iTunes and Stitcher!! TOTLB 061 Free Comic Book Day 2017

totlb-916-300
Hi all!! Our 61st episode comes from Hall of Justice Comics & Collectibles, where we celebrated FREE COMIC BOOK DAY!
Special guest hosts, Dominic “DomPee’s” Pacheco, and Michael “midget porn” Kuyrk, join me for this awesome event, as Gabe was celebrating the birthday of his youngest daughter!
Our pick for this recording’s #popcultureclassic is the 2003 comic book, Superman: Red Son. This book is all about the ramifications, of what would have happened, had Superman landed in Russia, instead of the United States. Is he a bad guy? Does he still want what is best for humanity? It’s a really good read, and we have some pretty cool opinions on the book!
No “official” interviews for this episode, but we did speak to some of the artists that were on hand. Frankie Serna told us about his Denver Comic Con kickoff party, and a small amount of information about his new book with Herb. Herb spoke to us mostly about this book, which is about a soldier who can never “die.” It’s a 3-5 year story, and we are super excited to see how it unfolds!! We also spoke to many of the awesome attendee’s, and our smallest listener, Marika, makes a special appearance!
Also, if you have good feedback, please leave it for us on iTunes and Stitcher!! TOTLB 042 Chris stakes Albie

PodcastImage
Coming from the LONGEST episode of the season, we bring you another DOUBLE FEATURE!! One from the Denver Comic Con beer release party, and the other straight from the hallowed halls of Gabe’s basement!
For the first episode, Gabe is once again MIA!! WTF Gabe!! But Jon and I kill it, in our first “buzzed” episode haha!! We celebrate the Denver Comic Con beer release party by speaking to the Convention Director Christina Angel, the man behind the beer from Breckenridge Brewery Ryan Workman, and of course the man behind the art on ALL of the beer glasses Frankie Serna. It was a great time hanging out with friends, and we hope to be back next year!
The second episode in this double header, Gabe FINALLY returns, but we lose Jon!! For the most part we are back to our normal routine!! But Christopher from the 11.22.63 Podcast joins us, as well as the Godfather to us all, Albie. Albie talks about some of the trials and tribulations that have effected Barren Space, on a personal level to him, in a “coming out” of sorts. He is learning, and growing, and we are ALL moving forward!!
Also, if you have good feedback, please leave it for us on iTunes and Stitcher!!
