TOTLB 096 Can You Find It

We are FINALLY back at our home base!! Through comic con season, and getting back to our roots!! On this episode, we did a LOT of catching up on Marvel television. We gave ourselves two weeks to catch up on all of the Marvel TV that we could, and we did our best to speak about their latest season, and give them reviews. It’s not everything, but hey, we tried!

Allison O’Toole has now been on the show, I believe four times (I could be wrong). Well Allison is back with “Called Into Being: A Celebration of Frankenstein.” With Gabe being such a Frankenstein fan, of course this was a very fun interview!! Celebrating the 200 year anniversary of when Mary Shelley published Frankenstein, you will find over fifteen different comics/essays written all in celebration! This is not a retelling, but more of an exploration of “the places were our lives and literature connect.” With a couple weeks left in the kickstarter, help Allison bring this amazing set of stories to life!! Whether you call him Frankenstein, or “The Monster,” there will always be entertaining stories to tell!!

Remember, you can ALWAYS let us know what you think! We can only think of so many things to talk about every other week, and would LOVE to get some feedback and ideas from all of you out there who are listening!! You can send mp3s and email to our email address. Also, join the conversations on our Facebook Page and Twitter Page. If you have good feedback, please leave it for us on iTunes and Stitcher!! That’s one way to help us climb the ranks into podcast glory!! You can ALSO leave us voicemail!!! Call the Michael Kuyrk memorial 970-573-6148 and leave us a hilarious message!!! PLUS FOR AS LITTLE AS $1/MONTH you can support us on Patreon!! A lot of cool extras on there for those who support!!

NEW Comics March 22nd 2017

New
Comics Release for 3/22/17

Well I am writing this up on Wednesday
morning, so I am obviously behind, so lets jump right in, shall we?
From Dark Horse this week, Black Hammer is
back after a few months off, with issue #7 hitting stands this week. This issue
focuses on Joe
Weber: the Black Hammer. A hero from the Spiral Slums. A husband. A father.
Gone without a trace. A visitor from the outside world arrives on the farm,
looking for the Black Hammer and bringing news of Spiral City to its Golden Age
heroes. Her arrival stirs up old memories and awakens new hope in the marooned
heroes.

From DC this week, lots of 4 issue story arcs
are wrapping up in some of the more popular titles, including Action Comics
#976 which is the finale to the “Superman Reborn” story arc. Written by Dan
Jurgens with art by Doug Mahnke and Jamie Mendoza this finale promises that
Superman’s life will be drastically changed, and you wont want to miss it!

From Image this week a new monthy horror
series called Underwinter begins with issue #1 and is written and drawn by Ray
Fawkes. In this premier Underwinter paints twisted portraits of our dark world
beginning with the perverse, topical “Symphony” – a beautifully painted tale of
music and cruelty in the modern age.

From Marvel this week, hot off the heels of
the Netflix debut, Iron Fist #1 hits the stands. Written by Ed Brisson with art
by Mike Perkins, “The Gauntlet” starts here! Kun Lun is in ruins. The chi
fueling Danny’s fists is wavering. Is there a future for Iron Fist? Danny Rand
pushes himself to the breaking point, finding fights to prove his worth. But a
bigger fight than he can handle may have found him.

Lastly
from Valiant this week, X-O Manowar #1 hits stands. Written by Matt Kindt with
art by Tomas Giorello. Born
under the oppressive thumb of the Roman Empire, Aric of Dacia learned warfare
at an early age. It was amid such violence that he was abducted by an alien
race. Forced into slavery, he survived where others perished. His escape would
come from bonding with a weapon of immeasurable power: the X-O Manowar armor.
With it, he returned to Earth…only to find himself stranded in the modern
day. But that was a lifetime ago. Now, far from home on a strange and primitive
new world, Aric has begun a new life. Liberated from his past, he tends to his
crops. Free from war. Free from violence. Free from the armor. But
the machinery of death marches his way once again. Conscripted into an alien
army and thrown into an unforgiving conflict, the fury inside him finds voice
as he is forced to embrace the armor once more. With it, he will decimate
armies, topple empires and incite interplanetary warfare as he rises from
SOLDIER to GENERAL to EMPEROR to VISIGOTH. They wanted a weapon. He will give
them war!

The first part of this episode is dominated by all of the news that is coming out of New York Comic Con! This includes Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Agents of SHIELD (Ghostrider), and much much more!!
For our #PopCultureClassics segment, we talk about one of the most influential comedies ever made, Blazing Saddles. Obviously, with the sad passing of Gene Wilder, our conversation tends to skew towards him, and the awesome role he had as the Waco Kid!! But, we also talk about the awesome effect that Mel Brooks has had on the comedy industry!! If you haven’t seen this movie, you definitely are missing out, it’s a classic!
HOLY COW do we have an awesome interview for you listeners!! We interview Wes Robinson, who plays “Lane,” in the Lionsgate movie, Blair Witch! Wes is such a humble guy, and talks about how grateful he was to be a part of the Blair Witch franchise!! He tells the awesome story of him seeing the original The Blair Witch Project, movie, in the theaters, and finding out that the secret movie he was offered, was in fact, a Blair Witch sequel! He talks about 1 of the easter eggs in the movie, and teases us with the many more that are out there! If you have let people talk you out of seeing this movie, you definitely need to go!! There are so much more different elements to this sequel that make it seem different and fresh! Huge thanks to Wes for giving us this awesome interview, and letting us peek into the life of a horror genre fan!
Remember, you can ALWAYS let us know what you think!
