I am a GIANT fan of pretty much anything that has to do with J.R.R. Tolkien!! I started reading with Lord of the Rings all the way back in elementary school! Naturally, I would move onto The Hobbit, and then try my hand at Unfinished Tales, and The Silmarillion! Today’s topic is all about the Prime Video series that is expanding this universe in a great way! We’re talking about The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power!

“The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is an American fantasy television series based on the novel The Lord of the Rings and its appendices by J. R. R. Tolkien. Developed by showrunners J. D. Payne and Patrick McKay for the streaming service Prime Video, the series is set in the Second Age of Middle-earth, thousands of years before Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. It is produced by Amazon Studios in cooperation with HarperCollins and New Line Cinema, and in consultation with the Tolkien Estate.”

Getting to learn about Galadriel, Elendil, Elrond, Durin, Isildur, and SO MANY amazing Tolkien universe characters has been great! We’re definitely not the kind of podcast that nit picks everything we talk about to death, instead deciding to try and enjoy as much as we can! Yes, this series is not a page by page depiction of what happens in the 2nd age, but there is no possible way that it could be, with the rights that were purchased. Instead, it’s visually appealing, the acting is fine, and it’s expanding something that we as nerds love. All of those points are enough for us to sit back and enjoy what we’re seeing on our TV screens!
