TOTLB S08 Sherrilyn Kenyon

Hello everyone, and welcome to our first interview for Comic Con International 2018!!

Sherrilyn Kenyon is a #1 New York Times Best Seller, and you can absolutely tell that she LOVES her world/characters!! Her writing started WAY back before she ever wrote her first big hit! Sherrilyn has been writing ever since she was a young woman, at the behest of a family member or two. She has characters in her books now, that she has been imagining, and writing about, for over 20 years!! Because of this, her work is much more informed, and fleshed out than normal authors, as these characters, ARE a part of her family. They have lived, and breathed with her for almost her whole life, and you can feel like through her writing!

With over 70 million copies sold, throughout 100 different countries, she is an international star, with an international following! Hitting the #1 New York Times Best Seller in 2007 for Devil May Cry #2, and in 2010 for No Mercy, Sherrilyn is definitely an author that you do NOT want to pass up!

We spoke with Sherrilyn about two of her upcoming books:

Stygian – “Out of darkness comes the light. From the loins of the Stygian Hell, you are born and you will be called Urian – The flame of our new people. And one day, you will be my blade. My vengeance upon them all. They took my son from me, and I take theirs from them. Together, my precious Urian, we will destroy the human race, and all the Gods of this earth.

Death Doesn’t Bargain – “But so are the demons who have broken free of their eternal prison and are bent on mankind’s destruction. The worst of the lot is Vine, determined to claim their lives for taking hers. She will see the world burn…and has the perfect lure to destroy them and Thorn, leader of the Hellchasers, once and for all. Kalder Dupree has never known a day of mercy. Born to a mer-race who prides themselves on cruelty, he sacrificed himself for the only woman who has ever shown him kindness. Locked in a hell realm, he doesn’t expect anyone to come to his rescue. He accepts the fact that he was born alone and that he twice died that way once by his own mother’s hand Cameron Jack is determined to set Kalder free. As a Hellchaser Deadman, it’s her calling, but her resolve stems more from the fact that she’s the reason he died in the first place. If not for him, she’d still be suffering. And she cannot allow even a not-so-innocent to be tortured for an act of kindness that spared her damnation.”

TOTLB S07 Jason Liles Rampage

Today is a VERY special episode!! We had the pleasure of speaking with Jason Liles, the star, of the summer hit movie, Rampage RELEASING ON BLU-RAY AND DVD JULY 17TH!! Jason did all of the motion capture for the Gorilla, George! Jason was such an upbeat and excited person, it was our honor to have him on the show!

It took Jason a full SIX months of preparation: studying gorillas’ physicality, their psyche, their modes of both vocal and non-vocal communication, and most importantly, training on ape “arm extensions”  under the tutelage of King Kong himself, Terry Notary (top in the field) perfecting the art of a character enhanced by motion capture. He gives us a lot of insight into his work with Terry, plus his work in the motion capture field, as this was his first time doing motion capture!

Our conversation took an awesome turn, when Jason started speaking about Gorilla conservation! During his time with them, he absolutely fell in love. He gives us some sad statistics about the state of Gorilla’s in nature, and we talk a little bit about what we can do as humans! What an awesome person Jason was, and an even more spectacular human being!

REMEMBER THAT RAMPAGE COMES OUT ON BLU-RAY/DVD ON JULY 17TH, 2018!!

Remember, you can ALWAYS let us know what you think! TOTLB S05 Cullen Bunn “Metro”

Cullen Bunn is back on the show!! This special interview, we talk mostly about the book that he has coming out with Brian Quinn, and Walt Flanagan! The book is titled “Metro” and is a “dark urban fantasy graphic novel.” Juan got the preview copy at San Diego Comic Con, and boy is it DARK, but the art by Walt is fantastic!

They decided to distribute the comic book via kickstarter, and there is only a handful of days left for you to contribute! Cullen’s books, including Harrow County, and Conan the Barbarian, have always been amazing. You would be getting a great, 100% “their” book, and you know anything from Cullen will be a great read. Definitely consider backing this project!! The TOTLB crew will be getting the limited edition hardcover!

TOTLB 088 Pre Con Relaxation

This episode, 88, is our relaxation time before all of our Denver Comic Con Coverage. Juan, Gabe, and Doyle sit around and talk about what has happened in the last month. We discuss Rick possibly leaving The Walking Dead, Roseanne being racist, and Samantha Bee getting reprimanded for a word used in other countries as “normal.”

We also talk about some of the interviews that we have for Denver Comic Con, and some of the other comic cons that we have coming up for the rest of the year. This is our episode to relax, before our schedule gets insane. So mostly, just enjoy a very easy going conversation between all of us.

TOTLB 087 DCC Beer Release 2018

Denver Comic Con has released their 2018 beer, made by Breckenridge Brewery!! This is our recording at that event!

No formal interviews, but we interviewed MANY people who attended the fun event. Some were in costume, and some were just there for the beer!! We focused on what everyone thought about the beer, as well as what they were most excited for, when it came to Denver Comic Con in general!

While it wasn’t super “formal” we did speak with Ryan Workman of Breckenridge Brewery to ask him about why/how they came up with the beer that was made this year. We also spoke with the President of the Board of Directors, for Pop Culture Classroom, Tone Ellis de Jesus. He tells us about Pop Culture Classroom, the goals, and the overall environment of the group. We get to hear about some of the amazing volunteers, and what it takes to really put on a show as great as Denver Comic Con!

S04 Harry Potter V Star Wars

The newest special episode from Tim & Doyle is all about Harry Potter VS Star Wars.

A little bit of time is devoted to Solo, and Fantastic Beasts 2, both the 10th installments in their respective franchises. Which 10th installment are the guys most excited to go out and see? The startling similarities are also discussed, as well as possibly an accidental plagiarism? Is there a Jar Jar Binks of the Harry Potter World? Plus of course, which franchise is better? I think you’ll be surprised at that answer!!
