New Comics for December 6th 2017

New Comics Release for 12/6/17

Well it is December! Man how time flies! With
all of the hubbub surrounding the holidays, make sure you find time to treat
yourself to some comics! And this week proves that there are still some stellar
things in the pipelines for the last of 2017!
From DC this week, the ever-coveted DC
Universe Holiday Special 2017 hits shelves. DC Comics’
finest talents have assembled to bring you a holiday special like you’ve never
seen before! Join Superman, Wonder Woman and the Flash as they deliver powerful
messages of hope like only The Worlds Greatest Super-Heroes can! Plus: Sgt.
Rock fights the Nazis on Hanukah, the Teen Titans take on the literal ghost of
Christmas past, and Swamp Thing battles that creeping feeling of existential
dread! And don’t miss the legendary Denny O’Neil’s return to comics with an
all-new Batman story!

From Image this week,
three new debuts hit the racks, with Paradiso, Sleepless, and the return of
Witchblade!
From writer Ram V and
artist Dev Pramanik, comes Paradiso #1 a new technothriller! The Midnight Event
forever changed the world. Now, centuries later, Jack Kryznan arrives on the
outskirts of Paradiso City, haunted by fragments of childhood memories and in
possession of a mysterious device-one with the power to change the destiny of
this living breathing metropolis, the people who dwell within, and the
guardians who strive for and against it.

From writer Sarah
Vaughn and artist Leila Del Duca comes Sleepless #1, a new fantasy romance
series! Lady “Poppy” Pyppenia is guarded by the Sleepless Knight
Cyrenic, but danger is around every corner once the new king is
coronated.

Lastly, Witchblade is
back! Written by Caitlin Kittredge with art by Roberta Ingranata. Gunned down
and left for dead on a New York rooftop, Alex Underwood’s life should have
ended there-but instead, at the moment of death, she became host to the
Witchblade, a mystical artifact that grants the woman wielding it extraordinary
powers. But the power comes with a heavy cost, and Alex finds herself thrust
into the center of an unseen battle raging on the snowy streets of NYC. Demons
are real and walking among humans, and every one of them is intent on taking
out the Witchblade’s newest host before she becomes too strong to kill. But the
artifact chose Alex for a reason, and she’s not going down without a fight.

From Marvel this week, a special one-shot hits
racks that kicks off a crossover event between Amazing Spider Man and Venom. Amazing Spider Man Venom Inc Alpha #1 is
written by Dan Slott with art by Ryan Stegman. Peter Parker, Eddie Brock and
Flash Thompson have one major thing in common – the Venom symbiote changed all
of their lives. The inky black alien life-form is doubling down on our heroes –
and they’re not the only ones about to be put through the ringer. VENOM INC.
kicks off here and rolls into AMAZING SPIDER-MAN & VENOM as a familiar face
rises to new levels of villainy!

From Boom! Studios
this week, another beloved Nickelodeon cartoon is adapted to comics with Rockos
Modern Life #1! Ryan Ferrier (Regular Show) and Ian McGinty (Adventure Time)
continue BOOM! Studios’ partnership with Nickelodeon with all-new stories about
everyone’s favorite wallaby!
When Rocko faces unemployment, a terrible living
situation, and increasingly slim job prospects, he is forced to find out just
how far he is willing to go to get a job. Features
a backup story by KC Green where Ed Bighead finds himself in the dentist chair
of Dr. Hutchison!

From Dynamite this
week, Barbarella is back and is written by Mike Carey with art by Kenan Yarar. Earth’s
star-crossed daughter is back! When Barbarella wanders into a war zone, the
theocratic rulers of Parosia arrest and imprison her. A prison break is
brewing, but now that she knows what the Parosians do to their own citizens
Barbarella decides to make this fight her own…

TOTLB 043 DCC Year 2 Super Sized

totlb-916-300
Coming to you from the hallowed isles of Denver Comic Con, for our SECOND straight show during this event, we bring you the next installment of the Thinking Outside the Long Box podcast!
This is the first year that all three hosts have been at Denver Comic Con¬†for all three days, so we bring you coverage for the whole show! We stop people all over the show so that they can tell us about their costumes, and what they are excited for throughout the show!! You won’t want to miss our conversations with the amazing Kenshi, the costumed Elvira, and so many more people! We also bring you TWO amazing interviews!!
The first interview comes from Top Shelf Production’s, Benjamin Frisch! He tells us about his novel, The Fun Family! This full color graphic novel has been getting rave reviews, and Gabe absolutely loved reading it before he spoke with Benjamin!! Benjamin also talks to us about his experience in France, and trying to expand his knowledge, in an area that was different, but in a great way!! You definitely need to go check out his novel, it’s worth the read for sure!
The second interview is with the LEGENDARY Joe Keatinge! Joe is freaking hilarious, and works perfect for our show because he is one that will just speak his mind, and tell you what he thinks! We spent a good chunk of this interview speaking about his awesome book, Ringside! Joe, apparently, is a pretty big wrestling fan! He said “I’ve been preparing to write this book, not knowing I would write it, for my whole life” talking about Ringside, and him watching wresting. Of course, you can’t have a conversation with Joe, without talking about the stellar, Shutter! He talks about working with a friend of the show, Leila Del Duca, and also has great things to say about Emma Rios! The second not to miss interview of this episode, and a HUGE catch for our show!!
Remember, you can ALWAYS let us know what you think! We can only think of so many things to talk about every other week, and would LOVE to get some feedback and ideas from all of you out there who are listening!! You can send mp3s and email to our email address. Also, join the conversations on our Facebook Page and Twitter Page. Also, if you have good feedback, please leave it for us on iTunes and Stitcher!! That’s one way to help us climb the ranks into podcast glory!! You can ALSO leave us voicemail!!! Call 970-573-6148 and leave us a hilarious message!!!

TOTLB 010 The Curious Case of the Pantheon Project

LOGO-new-low
Dobry Den all of you who have made it this far with us!! We have made it to the magical double digit numbers, to our tenth episode!! Are you kidding me! A lot of work has gone into making this podcast work, and work well! Hopefully everyone has enjoyed all the eargasm’s that we are able to give out! What better way to kick off our double digit episode with an interview from the AMAZING Leila Del Duca and Erik Taylor!! They tell us about their amazing comic book, The Pantheon Project. It is a GREAT read, and they tell us all about it’s origins, as well as about any future plans for the project! Also, Gabe couldn’t have an interview with Leila Del Duca and NOT ask her about Shutter, his pick for best comic book of 2014! If you’re a comic book nerd, you definitely don’t want to miss this interview!
We also talk about all of the TV shows that have come back (Gotham, The Walking Dead, Arrow, The Flash) and how great they have been since the break! Jon is FINALLY watching Arrow again, and he most certainly is enjoying it like the rest of us. Also, we have recently been gaining some incredible steam on our social media accounts! Because of this, we are holding a contest. The winner will receive a “loot crate” type of prize. You will receive different prints, comic books, etc. The ONLY thing you have to do is take a picture of your nerd room that shows off all of your glorious nerd items; comic books, posters, pictures, paintings, etc. Take a picture, tag us and hash tag #outsidelongbox and #mynerdroom. It’s that easy!
Jon’s “old shit” segment brings us to the amazing Goonies. We talk about how amazing the movie was, and our thoughts on a sequal! Gabe’s “old shit” is the disgustingly good Slither. He tells us about the first time that he watched the movie with his daughter, and why they had to pause the movie because she couldn’t stop laughing!
Remember, you can ALWAYS let us know what you think! We can only think of so many things to talk about every other week, and would LOVE to get some feedback and ideas from all of you out there who are listening!! You can send mp3s and email to outsidethelongbox@gmail.com. Also, join the conversations at facebook.com/thinkingoutsidethelongbox and twitter.com/outsidelongbox
