This is one of the few pop culture classics that I can remember actually going to the theater and enjoying. It’s also a book that I remember re-reading right before the movie came out. Without realizing it, The Lord of the Rings might have been the biggest influence on my nerd tendencies. I fell in love with this series, as well as the different races of beings, the writing, and everything that made this fantasy amazing! We are talking about the first movie in the trilogy, The Fellowship of the Rings!

“The future of civilization rests in the fate of the One Ring, which has been lost for centuries. Powerful forces are unrelenting in their search for it. But fate has placed it in the hands of a young Hobbit named Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood), who inherits the Ring and steps into legend. A daunting task lies ahead for Frodo when he becomes the Ringbearer – to destroy the One Ring in the fires of Mount Doom where it was forged.”

What do you do when you find out that one of the most powerful creatures is preparing to try and take over the world again? The only thing stopping him is a four foot Hobbit with a secret ring that needs to be destroyed. Well, you put together a team of course. Consisting of Hobbits, humans, Elves, & Dwarves! This first film is all about, and does a great job, of telling the intro story about who everyone is, why the rings are important, and why the one ring needs to be destroyed. It’s just a small piece of the whole trilogy, but it’s still a great start! If somehow you’ve gone this long and haven’t seen these movies, now is the time for you to take a step back, and go watch them!
