From DC this week, foil covers continue! Also, Cursed Comics Cavalcade #1 hits the racks! Horror! Death! Uh…Face-punching! Also from DC this week, Flash #56 hits the rack! Things are about to get hot-very hot!-when Flash has to battle fire monsters generated by his longtime nemesis, Heat Wave. Unfortunately, the pilot light blew out in Mick Rory’s head, because he’s comatose from the effects of the Sage Force! How can the Scarlet Speedster reach his old frenemy and get him to put out the fire monsters? Looks like Commander Cold takes a demotion…so he can pretend to be Captain Cold and talk Heat Wave down!

From Image this week, a new title called Infinite Dark #1 hits the racks! The universe ended, but onboard the void station Orpheus, a skeleton crew of humanity survived: the last two thousand souls, waiting for a second big bang that may never come. Now, two years into their voyage, Security Director Deva Karrell investigates the station’s first murder-and the otherworldly motives behind it.

Also from Image this week, from DANIEL WARREN JOHNSON, the creator of the Eisner-nominated series EXTREMITY, comes MURDER FALCON! The world is under attack by monsters, and Jake’s life is falling apart: no band, no girl, no future… until he meets Murder Falcon. He was sent from The Heavy to destroy all evil, but he can’t do it without Jake shredding up a storm. Now, with every chord Jake plays on his guitar, the power of metal fuels Murder Falcon into all-out kung fu fury on those that seek to conquer Earth.

From Marvel this week, Namor is back in Avengers #9! WORLD WAR BELOW!With the underwater world on the brink of war, the Avengers go aquatic to save the day, but air-breathers are no longer welcome in the undersea city of Atlantis. And Namor, the Sub-Mariner, lord of the seven seas, has a bold new plan that will change the balance of power on Earth forever.

Spider Geddon continues with issue #1 hitting stands this week! REVENGE OF THE SPIDER-VERSE! Back in 2014, SPIDER-VERSE brought every Spider-Man ever together. This event spinning out of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #800 has Christos Gage and Dan Slott teaming up to destroy them all. The Inheritors have somehow gotten out of their radioactive prison planet and made their way to the Marvel Universe. It’s going to take a whole Spider-Army to keep them from TAKING IT ALL! Starring Spider-Man, Doctor Octopus, Spider-Gwen, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, the Spider-Man from the anticipated video game and, well, every Spider-Man and Spider-Woman ever, including some brand-new ones! With Jorge Molina on art, the END OF ALL SPIDERS never looked so good!

Star Wars Solo Adaptation #1 (of 7) blasts onto racks this week! FEATURING BACKSTORY AND SCENES NOT SEEN IN THEATERS! After leaving the IMPERIAL NAVY, a young HAN SOLO seeks adventure by joining a gang of galactic mercenaries – including a 196-year-old Wookiee named CHEWBACCA and a notorious gambler named LANDO CALRISSIAN. But there’s more to the story of the galaxy’s most beloved scoundrel than what you saw in theaters. Why does BECKETT trust him? And what is the connection between the woman who stole Han’s heart and one of Han’s closest friends?

Another one-shot kicks off some new What If’s this week with What if? Punisher #1! WITH GREAT POWER…When Peter Parker’s Uncle Ben is ruthlessly killed by a burglar Peter let escape, he vows to never let the same fate befall another innocent bystander. From then on, he stands as a figure of cold retribution. Criminals beware – the guilty caught in this spider’s web will be PUNISHED. But will Parker stand triumphant…or shattered by this twist of fate? The friendly neighborhood takes a different turn in this WHAT IF? adventure, positing a very different sense of responsibility for the man who will be known as THE PUNISHER, as his battles against villains like the GREEN GOBLIN take a new path!

Lastly from Marvel this week, X-Men Black continues with X-Men Black Mojo #1! THE SPINELESS SHOWMAN TAKES CENTER STAGE! That’s right – that most successful producer ever to pack the cross-time airwaves, the man himself, MOJO, has yet another plan in place the boost his ratings at the X-Men’s expense! And I’m sure he would say it’s THE MOST IMPORTANT COMIC BOOK YOU’LL EVER READ! PLUS: Part 2 of X-MEN BLACK: APOCALYPSE!

From AfterShock this week a new sci-fi series makes its debut with The Last Space Race #1! It started as an anomaly. An outlier in the noise that’s so common in astronomical data. But the truth sends the United States-and the world-careening into what will become humanity’s LAST SPACE RACE. Leading the effort for the United States is one man, Sasha Balodis. A fun-loving tech billionaire turned aerospace titan, Sasha’s seemingly perfect life has been gripped by recent trage-dy. Building and launching the most expensive, most ambitious and most important project in history-well, it gives him something to live for again. There’s only one thing standing in his way: his arch-rival and chief aerospace competitor, Roger Freeman.

From Black Mask Comics this week, a new horror title makes its debut with Devil Within #1 (of 4). Paranormal entities. Demonic possessions. Or is it madness? When newly engaged Michelle and Samantha move into an old house, Michelle starts experiencing disturbing events… rogue reflections in mirrors, strange apparitions, and an errie voice only she can hear. Samantha doesn’t believe in ghosts, but the alternative might be even more terrifying in this hauntingly paranoid thriller

New Comics for October 3rd 2018

Welcome to October! It’s the first week of the month and man is it a doozey! Lots of great books this week so lets hop right in and get to our new book rundown! PLUS DC FOILS!!!

From Boom! Studios this week, Sparrowhawk #1 (of 5) lands on shelves and is touted as “Teen Victorian Fairy Fight Club”! As the illegitimate daughter of a Naval Captain, Artemesia has never fit in with her fatherfs family, nor the high class world to which they belong. However, when she is targeted by the Faerie Queen and pulled into another realm, she has no choice but to try and save the world that has always hated her.

From Dark Horse this week, Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba’s Umbrella Academy is BACK! Faced with an increasing number of lunatics with superpowers eager to face off with his own wunderkind brood, Sir Reginald Hargreeves developed the ultimate solution …Now, just a few years after Hargreeves’s death, his Umbrella Academy is scattered. Number Five is a hired gun, Kraken is stalking big game, Rumor is dealing with the wreckage of her marriage, a rotund Spaceboy runs around the streets of Tokyo, Vanya continues her physical therapy after being shot in the head-and no one wants to even mention Seance until issue #2.

From DC this week, Green Arrow #45 flies onto shelves and is a Heroes in Crisis Tie In! Oliver Queen is forced to take a hard look at himself and evaluate his methods after he fails one too many times trying to do the right thing. It’s a dark, depressing stroll down memory lane for the Emerald Archer, as Oliver must come to grips with how he’s hurt the people around him. This issue guest-stars members of the Justice League and the Titans, but are they there to console Ollie…or condemn him?

Also from DC this week, Nightwing #50! “Knight Terrors” begins here! The big issue #50 kicks off an epic four-part story that brings together critical moments of fear and doubt from the past and the present. A young Dick Grayson hopes to escape the shadow of the Bat and earn the title of Nightwing, while an older Dick Grayson must deal with a blow he did not see coming. A common enemy unites the timelines: the Scarecrow, as you’ve never seen him before! This story goes deep into the mythology and nightmarish development of Dr. Jonathan Crane.

Lastly from DC this week, Wonder Woman & Justice League Dark Witching Hour #1 is just in time for Halloween, it’s “The Witching Hour,” a five-part weekly event that will rewrite the future of DC’s magical heroes! Hecate, the witch-goddess of magic, always knew a day would come when the monsters she stole her magic from would return. Now she must activate the Witchmarked, humans within whom she secreted vast stores of power. And the most powerful of the Witchmarked? Wonder Woman!

From IDW this week, Batman the Maxx #1 (of 5) makes its debut! Batman must face the strangest and most bizarre adventure of his career, as he meets comics’ strangest and most bizarre hero… THE MAXX! IDW and DC Comics proudly present the most surreal, quirky, and wonderful crossover of all time! A devious new doctor at Arkham Asylum is conducting unconventional experiments into the human psyche, and he kicks off a chain reaction of disaster when he experiments on Arkham’s newest patient, The Maxx! The city of Gotham is starting to merge with The Maxx’s psychedelic mental landscape, known as the Outback, blurring the line between real and unreal. It’s up to Batman to save not just Gotham, but all of reality, and he and The Maxx are going to have to travel through some of the darkest places imaginable-the twisted minds of Batman’s greatest enemies!

Also from IDW this week, Star Wars Tales from Vaders Castle #1 squeezes onto shelves! Tales from Vader’s Castle puts a spooky spin on your favorite characters from a galaxy far, far away…This exciting weekly series explores the hidden corners of the Star Wars universe and features Rebels stars Hear, Kanan, and Chopper; Obi-Wan Kenobi and Count Dooku; Han Solo and Chewbacca; the Ewoks; and of course, Darth Vader -all under the shadow of Vader’s Castle! Fans will be excited to discover these creepy stories by fan-favorite writer Cavan Scott with art by the greatest talent from across the galaxy, including Derek Charm, Kelley Jones, Chris Fenoglio, Corin Howell, Robert Hack, and Charles Paul Wilson III!

Lastly from IDW this week, the first of a series of one-shots spotlighting each of the individual Turtles crawls up from the sewers and onto shelves. TMNT returns to its roots with new spotlights on individual Turtles, but this time they’re extra-large! Donatello understands that more is at stake than his brothers realize. In order to prepare for the coming conflict, Don will aim to repair his relationship with his mentor Harold… and his malicious robotic counterpart Metalhead! The new “Macros” will set up each individual Turtle for the climactic storyline leading to TMNT #100!

From Image this week, a new title called Blackbird #1 by Sam Humphries and Jen Bartel. In this neo-noir fantasy, Nina Rodriguez is positive that a secret magic world ruled by ruthless cabals is hiding just beneath the veneer of Los Angeles. The problem: everyone thinks she’s crazy. The bigger problem: she’s not crazy – she’s right. Can she unravel the mystery before the Great Beast catches up with her?

Also from Image this week, Dead Rabbit #1 by Gerry Duggan and John McCrea! Back in the ’90s, DEAD RABBIT was a prolific Boston stick-up man and hoodlum, until he took down one last big score and disappeared. Nobody ever discovered the truth: he retired to be with the love of his life. Now he’s back in the mask to save her, but no one-not his wife, the mafia, or the cops-is happy that he’s out of retirement.

It’s a big week for Image new series, and add to that Errand Boys #1 (of 5). In the future, if you can’t find a decent job, you run errands-the dangerous, often illegal kind. 30-year-old Jace Lopaz is a hard-worn scoundrel and a lifelong solo act-until he’s saddled with his 13-year-old half-brother Tawnk full-time. Now Jace has two mouths to feed while evading the law, running from aliens, and jumping off skyscrapers. The only thing weirder than the vastness of space is family.

Lastly from Image this week, new series Jook Joint #1 (of 5 ) hits the racks. Mahalia runs the hottest spot in all of 1950s New Orleans. The Jook Joint keeps the jazz popping, people bopping… and the women? The women are to die for. There’s only one rule: “Keep your hands to yourself.” But some men think rules don’t apply to them, and Mahalia and her coven of slain women enjoy reminding them that they most certainly do.

It’s a big week for Marvel too! First off, The Shatterstar Mini-series debuts with issue #1 (of 5). A gladiator, a warrior, a hero…the man called Shatterstar has been many things, but one thing he’s always been is deadly. He’s not a man you want to cross or you’ll learn that fact all too well. Walk back into the darkness with Shatterstar.

Doc Ock makes his return in Superior Octopus #1 as part of the Spider-Geddon tie in! Doc Ock has set up shop as San Francisco’s protector, but you won’t believe his methods. Some of Otto Octavius’s new super hero strategies may make Spider-Man regret letting him free, but the good doctor swears that he’s the SUPERIOR OCTOPUS!

Another one-shot kicks off some new What If’s this week with What If Spider Man #1! What if Peter Parker wasn’t the one bitten by the radioactive spider? What if the person who got bit was someone who didn’t live by the mantra of “with great power comes great responsibility”? What if that person was an egotistical bully who was only interested in taking care of himself? What if…FLASH THOMPSON became Spider-Man?

Lastly from Marvel this week, X-Men Black begins with Magneto #1! MAGNETO IS BACK! …and so is Chris Claremont! For years, Magneto has done everything he can to achieve his goals for mutant domination. But now Magneto has declared that enough is enough. So what revolutionary plan does Magneto have that will change the face of mutantkind? And will anyone be able to stop him? Will anyone want to? PLUS: Includes Part 1 of X-MEN BLACK: APOCALYPSE the back up story by Zac Thompson, Lonnie Nadler, and Geraldo Borge.

From AfterShock this week a new horror series debuts called Lollipop Kids #1! When immigrants came to the new world they didn’t only bring their hopes and dreams, they also brought their MONSTERS. Years ago, early settlers locked these monsters away in a secret prison deep in the woods of New Amsterdam so that they would never return to the Old World again. Those woods have since become Central Park and now the monsters have escaped! Nick, a 14-year-old Harlem resident, finds out that he is a “legacy” to a secret society that for the last 400 years has kept monsters in check. Now Nick and a ragtag group of kids just like him have to put the monsters back before they get out of the park and destroy the city.

New Comics September 26th 2018

Well Fall is finally here. The air is a little cooler, the leaves have started changing, and it is a HUGE week for comics, so put your nerdy sweater on and grab a pumpkin spice something and lets dive in!

From Dark Horse this week, one of the most anticipated comic releases in a long time from a Netflix TV show that was very likely spawned from the comic book medium, Stranger Things makes its debut this week with issue #1 (of 4). The nostalgia igniting hit Netflix original series comes to comic shelves. Follow Will Byers into a dimension of decay and destruction where he must use his wits and resolve to dodge the pursuit of the Demogorgon and escape the Upside Down. Written by award winning comics veteran Jody Houser (Faith, Orphan Black, Mother Panic). Based on Will’s unseen journey during season 1 of hit Netflix show Stranger Things.

From DC this week, Batgirl #27 drops, and has Barbara returning to Gotham, and the debut of a new costume! You can’t go home again. But that’s just where Barbara Gordon, a.k.a. Batgirl, is forced to go when the chip granting her mobility keeps shorting out in the aftermath of her clash with Grotesque. Will Commissioner Gordon drive Babs totally bonkers with his bedside manner? Or will the malfunctioning tech impact more than just her legs? Plus, what’s the deal with killer art critic Grotesque and his murderous new M.O.? It’s all in part two of “Art of the Crime.”

Huge week for DC with the release of Heroes In Crisis #1 (of 7) written by Tom King with art by Clay Mann! There’s a new kind of crisis threatening the heroes of the DC Universe, ripped from real-world headlines by C.I.A.-operative-turned-comics-writer Tom King: How does a superhero handle PTSD? Welcome to Sanctuary, an ultra-secret hospital for superheroes who’ve been traumatized by crime-fighting and cosmic combat. But something goes inexplicably wrong when many patients wind up dead, with two well-known operators as the prime suspects: Harley Quinn and Booster Gold! It’s up to the DC Trinity of Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman to investigate-but can they get the job done in the face of overwhelming opposition?

Lastly from DC this week, Justice League Odyssey is FINALLY out! Spinning out of JUSTICE LEAGUE: NO JUSTICE! When a cosmic menace threatens worlds beyond our own in the Ghost Sector, it falls to a new Justice League team to answer the call to battle! Cyborg, Starfire, Green Lantern Jessica Cruz and an out-of-his-element Azrael head to deep space inside a commandeered Brainiac Skull Ship. But as these wildcard teammates try to break through the impenetrable maelstrom imprisoning the desperate collection of planets, they discover something that nothing in the universe could have prepared them for: Darkseid…who says he’s there to help?! Written by Josh Williamson with art by Stjepan Sejic!

From Dynamite this week, Vampirella Deja Thoris #1 hits the shelf! The encounter that was destined to happen! When an alien scout ship crashes on Mars, Dejah Thoris must risk reigniting war with the Green Martians and becoming dinner for the white apes. But the stakes are raised so much higher when the ship is revealed to carry Vampirella, who is on a desperate mission of survival-one that might end before it truly begins!

From Image this week, a new title called Man-Eater lands! Eisner-nominated and New York Times bestselling thriller writer CHELSEA CAIN returns to comics with a new ONGOING SERIES! A mutation in Toxoplasmosis causes menstruating women to turn into ferocious killer wildcats-easily provoked and extremely dangerous. As panic spreads and paranoia takes root, the fate of the world rides on the shoulders of one twelve-year-old girl. Part Cat People, part The Handmaid’s Tale, MAN-EATERS will have everyone talking.

From Marvel this week, the second of the Infinity Warps hits shelves with Iron Hammer #1 (of 2). When Stark Odinson, the brainy but arrogant son of the All-Father, was kidnapped by Ice Giants and forced to make them an armory, he turned their forges against them and became the armored Asgardian, Iron Hammer!

Lastly from Marvel this week, The Spidergeddon is here! Spidergeddon #0 swings onto shelves this week. The end of all Spiders doesn’t exclude the star of the most anticipated video game of 2018! Marvel’s Spider-Man is out September 7, 2018 exclusively on PlayStation 4. He makes his Marvel Comics debut on September 26! How does he enter the Marvel Universe and what role will he play in the final chapter of SPIDER-VERSE?!

New Comics for August 22nd 2018

New Comics Release for 8/22/18

From DC this week, a new mini series kicks off with Batman Kings of Fear #1 (of 6) written by Scott Peterson with art by Kelley Jones. Batman’s been overseeing Gotham City for years now and isn’t sure how much of a difference he’s making. Doubt, fear and insecurity are starting to take over. And as all of those negative feelings set in the Scarecrow orchestrates a riot at Arkham Asylum to give the Dark Knight one of his greatest challenges yet! This six-issue miniseries will see the Scarecrow in a horrifying new way that you’ll have to read to believe.

Justice League Dark #2 also hits the racks this week. Plagued by a rash of otherworldly resurrections, the new JLD team begins scouring the shadowy corners of the DCU looking for leads. Turns out, this latest mystery ties back to the Tree of Wonder, last seen laying down roots in JUSTICE LEAGUE: NO JUSTICE-and it bears poisoned fruit to boot. The Tree serves as a doorway from the Realm of Magic to our world, and the Upside Down Man is just the first of many all-powerful mystic entities looking for a new haunt. It’s gonna take a major twist of fate for our heroes to get out of this one…

Lastly, from DC this week, Suicide Squad Annual #1 lands this week. Thrown together to apprehend an escaped inmate, Solomon Grundy, Rag Doll and Merlyn head into the muck surrounding Belle Reve, but no one is prepared for a meeting with the Swamp Thing. Bodies decay quickly in the bayous of Louisiana, and the avatar of the Green doesn’t care if the Squad makes it out alive. Written by Cullen Bunn with art by Ronan Cliquet!

From Image this week, Cullen Bunn has another new miniseries launching called Cold Spots #1 (of 5). Psychological terror, the undead, and a supernaturally bitter cold come together in this spine-tingling new series from CULLEN BUNN (REGRESSION, Harrow County) and MARK TORRES (Zombies vs. Robots: Undercity). 10 years ago, Dan Kerr turned his back on his wife and unborn daughter. Now, both mother and child have gone missing, and Dan must face cosmic terrors to find them again. He soon finds that ghosts stir when his estranged daughter is near. And as the dead grow restless, the cold deepens…

Also new this week, Die Die Die #2! Last month Robert Kirkman suddenly released a BRAND NEW SERIES. Well, the SURPRISES continue in August, as our secret cabal within the US government sends their elite assassins on a new mission. Last issue we cut off some guy’s nose. What happens in this one?

From Marvel this week, Punisher finally gets his new #1! YOU CAN TAKE THE PUNISHER OUT OF THE WAR MACHINE…Punisher no longer has the War Machine armor, but he retained his newly acquired taste for big game, and he’s hungry for more. However, the paths to such perilous pursuits are fraught with dangers bigger than any Frank has faced before, and this lone wolf could use otherworldly help on his way up to the world stage. MATTHEW ROSENBERG continues pushing the boundaries of the Punisher, and now joined by acclaimed artist RICCARDO BURCHIELLI (DMZ, Northlanders), this is the book Punisher fans will be talking about for years to come!

Also from Marvel this week, West Coast Avengers #1 kicks off and is written by Kelly Thompson with art by Stefano Caselli. A NEW ERA DAWNS…AVENGERS ASSEMBLE! HAWKEYE (KATE BISHOP). HAWKEYE (CLINT BARTON). A guy named FUSE. Never have they ever been called “the big three” of…anything. And now here they are, reunited for, okay, well, it’s only the second time ever. Thank god they also brought AMERICA CHAVEZ, GWENPOOL and KID OMEGA. Wait. What? That’s right, it’s the new West Coast Avengers, son. And you better hope they can figure out how to save the world because BIG things are headed for the West Coast.

TOTLB S16 Joe Casey Image Comics

We had the awesome opportunity to speak with Joe Casey from Image Comics while we were at Comic Con International 2018! Joe has been working on comic books for over 20 years, and he is a super interesting guy to speak with!! We had the pleasure of speaking to him about New Lieutenants of Metal and MCMLXXV during this interview!

Issue one of New Lieutenants of Metal hit comic book stores July 4th, of 2018! This is the “most kick ass head banging heroes ever assembled.” They are ready to strike down any threat that comes their way, and do it with a little “metal!” I don’t think that Casey is quite sure where he came up with this idea, but the ideas that come out of his brain are hilarious and worth the read!! With this book, we also discuss the fact that each issue will come with a soundtrack. We discuss where this idea came from, and what influences those soundtracks!

Issue one of MCMLXXV will come out September 12th, 2018! This book tells the story of Pamela Evans. By day she is what we might consider an average cab driver, serving the masses. By night, she turns in to Pamela Evans, “monster fighter.” Not only does she fight crime, she fights crime with an enchanted tire iron!! Not going to lie, that might be the coolest super powered weapon as of late!! If that description doesn’t sell the book for you, listen to the episode. Joe, again, not sure where the ideas come from, tells us a little bit about the book, and some of the ideas behind!!

Joe was great, and if you’ve been following his career at all, you know that you’re in for a crazy, wild, but great ride!!

New Comics for August 15th 2018

New Comics Release for 8/815/18

Hey Everyone! Here we go heading midway into August! Lots of fun stuff out this week, some new books, some crossovers, some new event miniseries, so lets dive right in shall we?

From DC this week, Aquaman #39 continues the “Sink Atlantis” story arc! Guest-starring Task Force X, and continuing from SUICIDE SQUAD #45, also on sale this month! After Atlantis rises to the surface once more, Aquaman finds himself outnumbered and outgunned when Amanda Waller sends in the worst of the worst-the Suicide Squad-to send the Lost City straight to Hell in “Sink Atlantis!” part two!

Batgirl #25 also hits stands this week and sees Barbara returning to Gotham! Barbara must come to terms with her complicated feelings about the city that made her Batgirl and turns to her friend, Dick Grayson for help. Does Dick have time for a heart-to-heart while subbing as Batman when Bruce Wayne is out of action? This extra-sized anniversary issue also offers a look at the next arc of the series by Mairghread Scott and Paul Pelletier as the monstrous villain Grotesque returns to murder wealthy art owners and defile their bodies to create his own “art.” And since this is the issue that keeps on giving, also look for a special backup story by Harley Quinn co-creator Paul Dini and artist Emanuela Lupacchino.

Lastly, from DC this week, Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos team up for the first title in Bendis’ “Jinxworld” imprint called Pearl #1 (of 6). PEARL is the story of an exceptional tattoo artist and accidental assassin for one of the modern-day San Francisco Yakuza. She was born into one life, but another is calling to her. When Pearl accidentally meets one of her peers, her doppelgänger from another clan, she starts to dream of a better life. But Pearl has a very special ability that keeps pulling her back into the violent world she is desperate to escape.

From Image Comics this week, Chris Sebela and Ro Stein debut a new series with Crowded #1! Ten minutes in the future, the world runs on an economy of job shares and apps, including Reapr: a crowdfunding platform to fund assassinations. Charlie Ellison leads a quiet, normal life until she’s suddenly targeted by a million-dollar Reapr campaign. Hunted by all of Los Angeles, Charlie hires Vita, the lowest-rated bodyguard on the Dfend app. As the campaign picks up speed, they’ll have to figure out who wants Charlie dead before the campaign’s 30 days-or their lives-are over.

From Marvel this week, Edge of Spider-Geddon #1 (of 4 ) fires off its first salvo. Spider-Punk is back and better than ever. After SPIDER-VERSE, Hobie Brown was a Web Warrior, but that didn’t mean things back in his universe were solved. The writer of the SPIDER-PUNK story in SPIDER-VERSE is back and joined by VENOM’S Gerardo Sandoval! Spider-Punk’s Earth is under attack both on the ground and from space, meaning his responsibility seems to outweigh his power. Don’t miss this first shot of the SPIDER-EVENT of 2018!

Also from Marvel this week, another event kicks off with Extermination #1 (of 5). Cyclops. Iceman. Angel. Beast. Marvel Girl. The original team of teen mutants brought together by Professor Charles Xavier many years ago have been shunted through time to find a world they barely recognize but were determined to help. Now, finding themselves targeted for death, the future of mutantkind lies squarely in the hands of its past. Writer Ed Brisson and artist Pepe Larraz answer the biggest question of all: can the fate of the X-Men be changed?

PLUS Astonishing X-Men Annual #1, AND Cable Deadpool Annual #1, AND Star Wars Beckett #1 land from the House of Ideas this week!

From AfterShock this week Volition #1 makes its debut! In a not-too-distant future, artificial intelligence has spawned a race of robots that serve all of humanity. Robots are considered second class citizens, but a few in the A.I. community are fighting back in a constant struggle for equal rights. When a debilitating virus called “Rust” threatens all artificial life, salvation lies in the most unlikely of robotic heroes-not a warrior or an solider, but in an obsolete construction worker and a dedicated caregiver. Together, HALE-19 and AMBER-7T embark on a perilous journey in search of a cure that could potentially change the balance of power on Earth forever.

TOTLB S11 Dennis Culver

We had the absolute pleasure of sitting down with Image Comics creator, Dennis Culver. Dennis is the writer of the upcoming book from Image, Burnouts. Burnouts is rated M, and will debut on September 19th, 2018! Make sure you tell your local comic book store that you want it added to your pull, so they can order it!

Description of the book from Image – Writer DENNIS CULVER (E Is for Extinction) and artist GEOFFO (layout artist of Marvel Rising) team up for a new ongoing series that combines the paranoia of They Live with Stranger Things. To save their friends and families, a group of high school teenagers must fight off an attack on their town by a secret alien invasion… but they can only see the aliens if they’re completely wasted. The Burnouts are saving the world one puff at a time!

Did you read that right? They can ONLY “see the aliens if they’re completely wasted.” This conversation with Dennis is absolutely hilarious. Imagine the looks you would get when you try and save the earth from invading aliens, but nobody can see them PLUS you’re high!! Who the heck would believe that rag tag group of saviors? Well, listen to the interview, and read the book to find out! Dennis and Geoffo did a great job of coming up with something new and different. This book sounds like the hero book you’ve been looking for, that isn’t the same as everything else out there!

TOTLB S10 Pia Guerra

Thanks to Image Comics, we had the absolute pleasure of sitting down with Pia Guerra! Pia has been creating for a very long time now, but burst onto the scene with her book, Y: The Last Man, with Brian K. Vaughan! She has worked on Doctor Who, Amazing Spiderman, The Simpsons, and much more! You can’t have an interview with THE Pia Guerra, without speaking a little bit about Y: The Last Man, especially since there was some movie news. But, we the main reason we were speaking was to speak about, “Me The People.”

Me The People will be released by Image Comics, and will come out on October 3rd, 2018. This book is a collection of some of the more recent editorial pictures, created by Pia! We get to speak to Pia about the “why’s” of this creation. She tells us about the anger that came out of the last election, and how she copes with it. Most of the listeners of our show, already know how we feel, but listening to Pia gives us a good feeling, that there are more people like us still out there!!

Speaking with Pia, hopefully you will remember that there are still ways that you can go out and ensure that your voice is heard. Don’t sit behind the computer, or sit in front of the TV and rant. Go out, and create. Make a sign, create a story, march, or any kind of other creative outlets that get your voice heard, and make you feel better. Marching, and creating, made Pia feel much better, in a time of RAGE!! Hopefully you’ll read her new book, coincidentally coming out right before the midterm elections, and you will decide to take action!!

TOTLB S09 Rob Guillory

Rob has now been on our show for the second time! He is such a nice, and chill guy!! In 2008 Guillory rose to fame, working on his, Image Comics book, New York Times Best-Seller, Chew! Born in Louisiana, he “started” his artist career at The University of Louisana! But of course, he really started his career years before, pre-college, drawing and doodling where/when he could.

For this interview, we will be speaking with Rob about his Image Comics book, Farmhand.

The last time we spoke with Rob, the only thing he could tell us, was the title of the comic book. Now we get to learn all about, what promises to be his next big hit! He was already around issue five when we spoke, but because it hadn’t been released yet, the details were scarce. Farmhand released on July 11th, 2018, to great reviews! Chase Magnett of Comicbook.com gave it a 5 out of 5 stars, and said “There is a real beating heart behind their story in addition to the many beating hearts found in the farm itself. ”

Farmhand is all about farmer, Jedidiah Jenkins. As with all of the awesome stories that Guillory tells, Jedidiah doesn’t grow corn, or soy, or onions. This farm is growing limbs!! If you lose a limb, just call Mr. Jenkins, and he will get you something new, farm to body! BUT, there is something growing underneath Jedidiah’s farm, that promises to uproot his life!! Do NOT miss out on this dark comedy by friend of the show, Rob Guillory. If you’re a fan of Rob’s, you already know the awesome dark humor he has, but if you don’t, this is something you should definitely be putting in your pull slot! Call your local comic book store now, and order it!!

New Comics Release for July 4th 2018

New Comics Release for 7/4/18

Happy Independence Day! Today is new comic book day! It’s a huge day for new books so let’s light the fireworks early in your preview of what’s coming out!

From DC this week, the Bat and the Cat are to be wed! But do they? Batman #50 AND Catwoman #1 both hit the racks tomorrow! Superstar writer Tom King and an all-star lineup of guest classic Bat-artists bring Bruce and Selina to the altar in this cant miss extra page special issue!

Also this week, Joelle Jones takes the helm both writing and drawing Selina Kyle in Catwoman #1. The wedding night’s barely over, but Catwoman’s back on the streets, this time to expose a copycat who’s pulling heists around Gotham City. As Selina cracks the whip on her former criminal cohorts, she’s attracting unwanted attention from one of Gotham’s most dangerous groups. The mob? Nope. Try the GCPD. And as if the Bat-Bride didn’t have enough problems, don’t miss the debut of an all-new villain determined to make trouble for all nine of Selina’s lives.

From Dynamite this week, Elvira Mistress of the Dark gets a new ongoing series! The Mistress of the Dark has become unstuck in time! Elvira crashes Mary Shelley’s monster weekend, beginning an epic journey through horror history, stalked by the most terrifying nightmare to ever walk the Earth. (No spoilers!) Writer David Avallone (Bettie Page, Doc Savage, Twilight Zone) and Dave Acosta (Doc Savage) bring you the thrills, chills and double-entendres in the first chapter of this four-issue miniseries!

From Image this week, a new 12 issue mini-series called Unnatural begins written and drawn by Mirka Andolfo. Leslie is a simple pig girl. She loves sushi, she’s stuck with a job she hates, and she lives under a brutal totalitarian government-one that punishes transgressors for anything deemed “unnatural.” Leslie dreams of something different for herself. But those dreams are becoming dangerous… This Italian hit series by MIRKA ANDOLFO (Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, DC Comics Bombshells) will transport you into a colorful but terrible world-full of anthropomorphic creatures, but light on personal freedoms-by way of a breathtaking plot that travels between thriller and fantasy, with a hint of sensuality.

From Marvel this week, the prefect precursor to the 4th of July debuts with Captain America #1 written by Ta-Nehisi Coates with art by Leinil Francis-Yu. IT IS WINTER IN AMERICA. For over 70 years, he has stood in stalwart defense of our country and its people. But in the aftermath of Hydra’s takeover of the nation, Captain America is a figure of controversy, carrying a tarnished shield…and a new enemy is rising!
Who are the Power Elite? And how do they intend to co-opt and corrupt the symbol that is Captain America?

Also new this week, hot off his run and right out of the pages of Thanos, Donny Cates takes the chains of Cosmic Ghost Rider #1 of 5!. Frank Castle was the Punisher. A deal with the devil made him Ghost Rider. A deal with Galactus made him cosmic. A deal with Thanos made him…DEAD?!? Not to worry, he’s coming back, and he’s got a plan to make the universe a better place that’s going to lead him into an even CRAZIER adventure than he’s ever been in! Join hot new comic (and cosmic?) writer Donny Cates (THANOS, DOCTOR STRANGE) as he pushes his wildest creation past the breaking point!

Lastly, from Donny and Marvel this week, Death of the Inhumans #1 of 5 begins! The Kree have gone murdering, leaving behind a message: Join or die. Thousands of Inhumans have already made their choice – the evidence floats bleeding in space. Black Bolt and his family are next. Rising star Donny Cates and PUNISHER: WAR JOURNAL artist Ariel Olivetti bring their brutal talents to the Inhumans!
